MOON LETTERS : POETRY
On the Shore - By Marcelo Abeldaño
On The Grey Havens
Will you just depart?
Don't ask me to understand,
You know better than that.
So long is the distance
So far are those lands.
Don't ask me to understand,
Who would understand me
Without you?
How far will you go
Without me?
My arms are not long
They've never been
My eyes can't see that far
They were never so keen
Who will take care of you,
When you're gone and out of reach
If you're gone into the never-dying
Gods and goddesses will.
I don't have their looks
Yet, you almost do, I know.
Don't fear for me,
Arms wait for me at home at night.
It's for you that my soul grieves.
And it always will.
Lonely, lonely your eyes grow.
You and I are bound.
It was much more than just a quest.
It was meant.
We were meant.
Don't ask me to understand.
Why doesn't our green satisfy you?
It's all for you, too.
Not even the Lady's silver tree.
Not even my gift.
A big house you leave in my hands.
A deep hole you dig in my heart
Not for too long you say,
Until the world is new.
Don't ask me to understand.
I'll suffer it. And I'll understand.
As I always do.
And, please, Master
Think of me often.
