MOON LETTERS : POETRY
As They Lay Sleeping - by TheRoad
It was long foreseen that this Queen would take the King,
for there was no bond as keen: the Night and the Day -
but what she gave away.
East of the Sea, they gathered and spent freely,
but years you cannot keep, and one dusk, He said,
"Now I must sleep, but
Dont wait for me to wake.
Travel the trees and Ill meet you around the lake.
Dont take another minute trying to stay the same.
Dont wait for me to wake."
Now this Eve had yet to feel weary of her days.
Within the circles of the world
Payment is drawn in grievous ways.
"Each moment that we meet is gone in but a while.
In sorrow we must leave," He said, "but beyond
theres more than memory child, so
Dont wait for me to wake.
Travel the trees and Ill meet you around the lake.
Dont taste another minute trying to stay the same.
Dont wait for me to wake."
In the fall of mallorn leaves, She held no company.
The West was too far now for the Evenstar.
Tis bitter to receive this life of mortal worth.
Though records are lost of her birth,
this Eve is no longer bound to the earth.
Hear her singing,
"Dont wait for me to wake.
Travel the trees for greetings around the lake.
Dont waste another minute dying to stay the same.
Dont wait for me to wake."
