MOON LETTERS : POETRY
My Lake - by Benjamin F. Ossoff
When I first was sent away,
And first I entered my cave,
The lake in which my island sits
Wasnt so big,
No, it wasnt so deep.
But long slow time passed by,
And I thought of my brother.
Gollum says its his fault
He tried to take the precious.
But when I think of what I did to him,
I can only cry.
I cried for year after long sad year
When the days were nonexistent
In the dark of my cave, I wept
And with the pain of my deed I kept
On crying.
And every day,
As I remembered what I did,
I cried some more
And the lake got higher.
When I think of Deagol and our friendship,
Higher swells the lake,
For our friendship now is gone.
When I think of my parents, who loved me not,
Higher swells the lake,
For they turned me out forever.
I think of all the outside world and how the trickst us, hurt us,
And higher swells the lake,
For all the world does hate me.
And thus I made my lake,
In the cold dark cavern,
Thus I passed half a millennia
Crying and riddling and fawning
Over the precious that destroyed my life,
And higher swelled the lake.
