MOON LETTERS : POETRY
Return - by Hope

How quickly, the summer fades,
And green departs from wood and glade,
How swiftly, the summer goes,
And after Fall, come winter snows.

Long ago they sought the rest,
Of undying land in the West,
To Valinor, to Valinor!
Their faces seen, nevermore.

No longer are in the forests heard,
The music of their sweet words.
But cold sleep of Winter is done,
And stirrings of Spring have begun,
Summer always returns once more,
Return again, from Valinor!

Let their songs be echoed in glen,
Elves, I beg you, come again!

When sun is spent,
And moon, withered,
Look for us, towards the West.

When fire runs in tortured streams,
And shadow stretches ‘cross the land,
From the West we’ll come again.
From the West we’ll come again.
