MOON LETTERS : POETRY
Path's End - By White Gull
In morning's silver, touched with gold
I gaze past prow to paths untold.
What lies ahead, sweet healing beach?
Or more of dark's engulfing reach.
Goodbyes brought pain; I dare not turn,
To stern past which my heart still yearns.
Dreams unfulfilled, and loved ones lost,
Vict'ry bought at price past cost.
But now arises joyful cry,
Land ahead! And ev'ry eye
Is strained to view the blessed shore
Where hurt and sorrow dwell no more.
Beckoning arms of shipmates dear
Fend away last doubt and fear,
And draw me gently back from death
To fill me with reviving breath.
Each day now spent in lost isle's peace
Like balm does raw wounds' pain release,
And helps to bury -- no, erase,
The taint of crafty guilt's embrace.
Long years so swift, like wind's breath flew,
And now on shore I wait for you.
Together we will once more tread
A path that others face with dread.
But this time path's end does not hold
Fear or sadness, dark or cold.
For you and I at last will see
Iluvatar's gift of eternity.
In forests new, by bubbling stream,
With friends restored from treasured dream,
There, beyond world's tight confines,
We'll walk the paths that transcend time.
