MOON LETTERS : POETRY
Tom Bombadil - By Heidi von Mulldorfer

Old Tom Bombadil was a merry fellow
His jacket was bright blue and his boots were yellow
Threw the ol'forest he would go a skippin
Stop by the waterside and go a dippin

Tom loved to sing and dance threw the spring flowers
Take a skip by old man willow who made you sleepy with his powers
On one foggy morning when Goldberry was still lyin on her pillow
Tom went fetchin waterlillies and sat by old man willow

Slowly Tom Bombadil slipped into a peaceful dream
He leaned against the tree that was drinkin from the stream
When he awoke Tom felt buried but where he was he could not tell
Tom just opened his lungs and began yell

"My names Tom Bombadil and I seem to be stuck
chances are there's no one out there, just my luck!
But if you happen to pass by and hear a low hum
That would be me, look on the ground for a foot or a thumb!"

Then an answer came from a voice that was angry yet sweet
It said " What where you thinking Tom resting at my feet
Now you're in my wooden prison and I'll never let you go
Not even if you begged and pleased, I will just say no!"

"Old Man Willow I knew it was you, you mean ol' tree
Now let me go or I'll have to kick myself free"
"Fine" said the Willow "You singin was bothering me any how"
Tom fell out of the tree and gave it a bow

"Thank you Old man you made the right choice
Now don't go round making people sleepy with your voice"
He dusted of his breeches all made of leather
Grabbed his tall hat and straightened out the feather

Off he went skippin, towards his wife and home on the hill
There she's waitin coolin bread on the window-sill
"Hey! Come derry-dol, merry-dol, my lady
I'm commin home from a day that has been shady!"

Then from atop the hill Goldberry sang a song
"Oh Tom Bombadil you've been gone so long
Dinners on the table and it's getting cold
Take any longer it will begin to grow mold"

So Tom trotted faster and reached his door in a flash
He gave his Elvin wife a kiss and sat done with a dash
Tom enjoyed a great meal of honeycomb, butter and bread
Then told Goldberry the adventure he had and finally went to bed.
