The door is locked, the road is lost,
the map cannot be found
To show the way to Faerie
where peace and joy abound.
Yet some few have broken through,
by straight ways or by round,
Where they have been by the Elven Queen
with caps of starlight crowned.
And there they learn. Their hearts do burn
with a knowledge so profound
That when they leave their eyes perceive
a beauty all around.
And so they teach and try to reach
those who cannot pass the door,
A glimpse to give to those who’ll live
in shadow evermore.
