On your face, the wounding,
a window, a reproach,
a disdain for niceties,
a lifetime avoidance
of the worm in the apple
grown now to writhing.

Enemies without,
possibly within.
Catch it at the middle,
grab the whipping snake
at the point of power,
transformed to steady rod.
Moses in the heartland
puts his feet on the path:
water parts.

You were born for this.
