Since the very beginning of Green Books, we have always been completely swamped with Q&A. Though we try to give responses to many emails, we simply cannot physically answer them all. Thus our carefully selected batch of 12 or so in each Q&A month. We apologize if you sent in a question that was not answered either on the site or via email.
We find, however, that the vast majority of emails for the last few years are on topics we have already covered. Our old search engine was highly inefficient and didn't allow readers (or us!) to quickly find the answers to these previously covered topics.
So here's what we're going to do from here on out: If you have a question, before you email us, use Google's site-specific search. It is a fabulous tool to help you find exactly what you need in the pages of Green Books. It works like this:
No doubt many of you are familiar with this method already. For those who aren't, please take some time to play with it before you email us. It will save us inboxes overloaded with questions we've already answered, and it will save you the frustration of mailing us without result. Happy hunting!
- Go to www.google.com. In the search box, type your search term, such as
- Leave a space, then type:
so that the whole search box now says:
- Hey presto, you will get more results--from only our pages--than you can shake a stick at.
In the future, we will be trying to bring back the Q&A feature, but we will be selecting only the very thoughtful questions we haven't dealt with before. So if you want to give us a whopper, fire away--but make sure we haven't answered it before. :)
